RINK PASSES AND FIRST HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF SEASON FRIDAY!
The rink manager, Mike Lipiatt just notified me that the high school and midgets should go to the aquatic center to get their passes before tomorrow nigh and you will need to sign the waiver. The reason is that the high school varsity plays their first game at 6:45 PM and the midgets play at 9 PM. With the rink just opening tomorrow the number of people trying to get into the rink and people wanting passes tomorrow night will just choke them. So, PLEASE go to the Aquatic Center to get your rink passes. GO TOPPERS!!
Well about the time you think you are ready for a season, you find more mistakes. The pdf of the practice schedule was wrong where we left out a HS Varsity practice on Tuesday mornings at 6-7 AM. That has been corrected and if you downloaded it after my last email, try it again. Sorry to inundate you with emails.
Changed schedule link below to the Ice Schedule instead of Master Schedule
I have been notified that the LA County Ice Rink will open Friday at 11 AM. We will begin practicing hockey on Monday with the following schedule, click here. If you have any other questions, contact your coaches which is under the Team button on the web site. In addition, you can begin purchasing your ice rink pass after 11 am on Friday.
Also, don't forget that we will be holding equipment rental at the White Rock
Thanks goes to Darren Meadows again. This will be the last chance to get items from LA Hockey Store before Christmas! These items make great gifts and show your support for LA Hockey! Store open now through December 8 in time for Christmas. See link below to access store.
Atom Registration for Birth Year 2013 and later: First time player ages 7 and under may register free for the first half of the season, Phase I. Returning Atoms of any age will need to pay for registration. If your player is Birth Year 2013 and has played before they will be a Mite, and should register under Recreational House or NMHRL (see below).
Recreational House and NMRHL
Recreational House: The Mite (8U-Birth Year 2011 and 2012), Squirt (10U-Birth Year 2009 and 2010), Peewee (12U-Birth Year 2007 and 2008), Bantam (14U-Birth Year 2005 and 2006), Midget (18U-Birth Year 2001 and younger) levels offer a “Recreational House Only” which requires no travel outside of Los Alamos. All games and practices will be held in Los Alamos! This option may appeal to those families who wish to limit their travel and time commitment, or those who are brand new to hockey and are looking for a way to test out the sport.
NMRHL: If your athlete wishes to play in games against other New Mexico recreational hockey teams (NMRHL), in addition to house league games, choose the Recreational and House NMRHL option. Most families will want to register for this option. This will require you to travel to Santa Fe, Taos, Albuquerque and Rio Rancho to play games.
High School ages register for the highest level team on which they plan to play, see below for explanations on the differences between Midget Developmental or Varsity.
High school aged athletes should register for the highest level team on which they plan to play, Midget Developmental (formerly known as JV) or Varsity. Players born in 2005 have many options, Bantam, Midget Developmental, or Varsity (if selected). Register that player for the highest level team on which they plan to play. If they would like to play with the Midget Developmental team they only need to sign up for that and they will be eligible to play at the Bantam level as well; the higher fee covers play at both levels. If they do not want to play with the Midget Developmental team then they will need to register for Bantams. The key is to register the player for the HIGHEST level team for which they will play games.
If you rented equipment in the summer or fall and wish to re-rent, you do not need to attend a rental session if it still fits. Instead, use the online registration system to add this season’s equipment rental to your account. If you need to exchange any equipment you are re-renting, please come to one of these two sessions and our coaches will fit you with new gear.
Thanks for asking but I hope I have your coaches covered with November 24, Outpost.
My customary practice is one early September at Outpost and one late November Taos or Los Alamos for the reasons you mentioned.
This year almost no one signed up in September so I canceled it.
Everyone gets the opportunity to join us the 24th. There is a bonus. One ice session with myself and local staff and another with Joe Bonnett ADM Director for USAH. Mites on the ice and class attendees assisting or witnessing the ADM practice he directs.
I hope this will work out for your coaches I don’t expect that I can pull this off annually. Meaning I can’t promise this opportunity will arise again. Level 2 coaches needing recert for 3 are also welcome, they will help Joe administer the ADM clinic and have class sessions for level 3 certification.
You are welcome to distribute this email for affected coaches. Thanks!
CORRECTION TO: Register now for Nov Elks Hull Hockey Camp
THE ELKS KYLE HULL HOCKEY CAMP COMING TO LA RINK!!
CORRECTION: We had the ages too restrictive and now have corrected them. Some said they could not register their kid in the appropriate age groups. Try again if you had this problem.
This camp will provide an advanced powerskating and technique camp. All ages from Atoms (age 5) through Midgets.
ADVANCED POWERSKATING & TECHNIQUE CAMPS
Teaching powerskating is my passion and I firmly believe the most important skill any young hockey player can focus on is skating – “The best players are the best skaters!” These sessions will include lots of advanced edge-work and foot-work. The drills will have a huge focus on balance & coordination, body-weight shifts, and using their edges in ways they probably never have before! The players will be challenged to execute drills that will force them to get better and stronger on their feet – The more they can do in their skates, the better hockey players they will become. Drills will be ran with a high pace to ensure maximum repetitions per player. The best part about this camp is that the players thrive on challenging themselves and end up absolutely loving this one!
Sorry for the flyer does not go out but it is on the website to the left of this message.
Below is a flyer for the subject. Most of you won't need this but some may have a child coming of age 5, 6, or 7. If not please pass onto youir friends or neighbors that might have children who might be interested.
Please remember, the background screenings can take 2 - 4 business days, and then have to be manually entered on the LOEAHA site. Therefore, should you not see your name on the list after 4 days, please email me directly before running another unnecessary screening.
This part takes a couple of hours, but is required.
